Trek Overview
Manimahesh Kailash, one of the five sacred Kailash peaks, is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. It is located in the Bharmour sub-division of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh, India. The peak is famous for a unique phenomenon observed at sunrise—when the first rays of the sun fall on the peak, a gem-like reflection is visible, giving it the name Manimahesh Kailash. Due to its location in the Chamba district, it is also referred to as Chamba Kailash. A grand fair, known as the Manimahesh Yatra, is organized here annually on the day of Raksha Bandhan, attracting thousands of devotees. The peak stands at an impressive 5,653 meters above sea level, while the sacred Manimahesh Lake, known for its sweet and pure water, is situated at an altitude of 4,080 meters in the high Himalayas.
